I guess you could say I have had a fierce desire to create lately. This wild craze came at the perfect time as I prepared 5 little cubs for Halloween this year. We really like trying to coordinate our costumes and I felt like our plan really came together.
Our den consisted of 1 cheetah (Natalie), one jaguar (Elaina), a baby wild cat (Lydia, whose meooow could melt your heart), and 3 tigers (Tyler, TJ, and me). Of course we had to have someone to tame all these wild animals and that is where Travis came in. We went to our ward Trunk-or-Treat last night and had a great time. We saw many cat cousins there along with ghouls and characters of all shapes and sizes. One of our favorites was the 10 foot tall grim reaper (okay, Tyler didn't like him so much!).
Lydia was so amazed that she could open up a bag and people would put in all sorts of yum-yums. She loved dancing and walking and basically being free to roam.
It was really fun to have some of our family join us in the celebration. Nana, Aunt Gayla or rather Aurora, Uncle Ryan, Aunt Angie, and two cousins Faith and Austin came.
I really enjoyed making the costumes this year. I have had my sewing machine out for several weeks and strange enough, it was calling to me. In the past I could NEVER have said that I liked sewing. In fact, I am pretty sure that patterns are not written in English. However, I felt a little thrill as I made the little dresses and saw the tiger outfits come together. But my favorite part was seeing my little felines come to life when I painted their faces.
I think everyone had a really good time. When we got home, the kids were already planning costumes for next year. As for me, it is on to the next project with a little sigh of relief and a question. . . What am I going to do with all of this candy?!?
